How do you change grip on an AR-15?

On an AR-15? I thought you just unscrewed the bolt holding it on with a alan wrench, but I read somewhere about being careful not to loose the safety detent/spring? What am I missing or is it as simple as just a bolt and washer like I assumed? I just ordered a new grip for my Bushmaster. Any help appreciated.

  Vertical hole in the right side of the receiver just above the grip has a spring & detent for the safety ... just watch for it as you unscrew the bolt holding the grip on.
