May I say something here...
This stuff over the prayers, God, religion, etc is getting out of hand.
Buschmaster: I do not know if you believe or dont believe in God or Creator or whatever you wish to call him. It is none of my business, that is your own personal beliefs. However, just as you do not like people telling you there is a God, those who do believe do not like being told that there is not and that prayer does not work.
Along the same lines, one of our long standing members is undergoing some medical care that is delicate to say the least. A family member asked for prayers (or well wishes if you dont believe in praying). To have a statement from you about it is all good "until he dies and then what? Oops?". That sir is a low blow and most indecent and ungentleman like. I took you for better than that.
Jacob: I know you believe. That is fine. If a member does not want you to wish him well or to pray, then you should respect his wishes. If you stil wish to pray for said member...do so...just dont tell them.
I believe and can understand his not wanting you to "push" anything on to him. I dont like Jehovas Witnesses trying to reform or reeducate me or whatever they want to call it. I politely tell them so and have never had them continue to try. I have had other denominations tell me they will pray for me as I have left to deploy as I walked through the airports with all my gear in tow. I smile and thank them for that...but busch doesnt want that so please understand and respect his wishes. Its part of being civil.
alltheway: Again like I told Jacob. Lets respect his wishes and beliefs. And the language.
Ok...all of us. The language. We are adults and the name calling is getting out of hand. If you do not believe, please refrain from posting on an obvious religious thread. Those who do believe, please refrain from posting on a thread where the non-believers are posting their thoughts.
I really like this board and the members on it. The last two days have really been out there. I have not said anything and just shook my head until this last go around.
If I have made any of you mad...wasnt my intent. But you either will get over it or hold a grudge against someone you only know on the net.

I understand, but its honestly a long story. I feel as I should atleast pray for people, and try to tell them what is right. They may not think its right, but it is to me, as is devil or wahtever to busch.
I would have quit, but he has continued to post.

Don't get discouraged, Jacob. You know it's your responsibility to tell others; it's not your responsibility to make them believe. They believe or do not believe of their own choice. 0 -
One of the staunchest atheists I ever knew would allow believers to pray for him. I think most atheists feel that way; only a true God-hater would be offended to know that a believer prayed for him. As a believer, I welcome the prayers of believers, but also welcome positive thoughts from non-believers.
This is as close to a religious thread as I want to see today, and I am locking it to keep it from deteriorating into something that makes me want to lock accounts.
