51 Navy Brass Frame Cleaning Tips

What can you soak your brass frame and other brass parts in to clean them? I like to srtip them down completely to clean them but it is hard to get al the junk inside the frame. Any tips would be welcome.

  Just take the wood off, boil all the metal for a half hour, then cook the metal at 200 degrees in the oven for another half hour to dry.
