Starter blackpowder rifle
Hi All,
I am thinkning of getting my 16 yr. old his first blackpowder rifle for the upcoming hunting seasons in Maryland and Pennsylvania. I am a single parent on a very tight budget and, although I am an experienced shooter and reloader, have no idea what would be a good, economical starter rifle. I just want the rifle to shoot straight out to 100 yds. and don't need any bells or whistles. I think 50 cal. is the way to go with sabot bullets.Being able to aford a rifle is my primary consideration
Any and all recommendations on brand and type are appreciated, as always!

Search the auction side there are tons of muzzleoaders. I never sold mine there because they go for too cheap. you should find a deal. 0 -
Do you want to shoot with a scope? 0 -
you should be able to pick up a thompson/hawken for less than $300.00.or you can try to find a lock&stock and put a green mt.barrel on it.those are a 1/28 twist,$200.00 and extremly accurate. 0 -
I would like to put a low powered scope on it! 0 -
Since you want a scope it rules out the Hawken type rifles. You want an inline.
Get this Knight Wolverine. This is an unbelievable deal at $109.
If these guys sell out google it up and you can still get one for under $200.
This is one of the great classic inlines. Made in USA with a very accurate Green Mountain barrel.
