PROBLEM: RUGER OLD ARMY

I have a ruger old army 5.5 barrel blue in 45 cal fixed sights. I took it apart to clean it and when I put it back together my latch bar at the bottom of the cyclinder does not engage the indentions. Help with the cocking mechinism. What am I doing wrong? How does the spring work? THANKS
