59 Sharps and Smith carbines

I'm looking for some input on loading and loads for my 59 Sharps(older IAB Armisport import)and my new Pietta Smith Carbine. Are there any advantages/disadvantages with brass or plastic for the Smith. Any way to loosen the latch mechanism to open the breech?What is best for bullets? What bullets should I use for the Sharps and is there any other paper cartridge available other than spending 60 bucks with DGW.Thanks

  Dixie has a good conical bullet for the Sharps.
