I have a buddy that wats to have a muzzel loader barrel made that will stabelize a 50 cal 550gr to 650gr connical slug. We were wondering about a twist rate of 1 in 22 or maybe 1 in 24. any ideas?? 0 -
you can put a clean rod with a snug patch on it mark the cleaning rod and pull it out until the rod makes a full turn and then measure the distance the cleaning rod traveled and that will tell you how many inches it takes for the rifling to make a full turn. If the barrel is short you might have to do half a turn and X2 0 -
Thanks for the reply however I don't know how to do this. [:I] I was wondering if you can find the twist by the serial number? I was told you could. Thanks, Marsye 0 -
If you know the make and model of your gun, try this link:
http://www.thebuckskinner.com/barrel_chart.htm
This is a chart of makes, models, and twist rates for each. It lists most of the more modern and popular guns.0 -
Hmm. I cut-and-pasted the link, but trying to open it myself, I'm told the webpage can't be found. We'll try something else:

If this doesn't work, you have the site address, just enter it yourself. Hope this is of some help.
Yup, works. I forget to copy the site address and instead try to cut-and-paste, which doesn't work.0 -
