    matwor,
    Good post.
But...while MOST of the post will never change, and people SHOULD be aware of it, the second part is a little out of date.

The major gun ban in Australia happened in 1996. The crime statistics did rise. But it has been a little more than 12 months ago since it happened.

yes pickenup...it has gotten worse every year since 1996. before then crims didnt know if anyone had a loaded 12g shotgun beside their bed for protection, and they wernt stupid enoughto find out!. now they know that if someone does have a gun it will be locked in a safe and the bolt ammo and magazine will be stored seperatly so they have free range against people, especially the older people who cant fight back. our government , and specifically the politicians who passed the laws in 1996 should hand for taking away peoples rights to self defence. if you have a baseball bat beside your bed and injure someone with it you better make sure you have a good story lined up for the police or they will charge you with possesion of an offensive weapon!
our laws are very hypocritical, we have the right to self defence, but we cant own anything for self defence...a crazy dangerous system.

quote:In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

It should be noted, the number of people who were forced into the gulags or farmers that were starved makes the number of dead dissidents close to double the number set here. Actual number of people dead from Soviet genocidal leadership, 35 million.

quote:Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated

This number is about 7 million people off, possibly more. Families of people incarcerated and rounded up were brought outside of the towns, forced to dig a mass grave, and were machine gunned down. Most of these people were women, many of them were holding an infant child in their hands when gunned down.

The number of people who were permanently disfigured as a result of the Nazis is triple the 20 million ordered to be killed. 13 million people were only the ones who were exterminated in concentration camps.

The actual number, we may never know. We may never find all of the mass-grave sites, but up until now, 7 million people have been found in them.
