Got any Daiwa fans? Update
I bought a brand new Daiwa rod/reel combo yesterday and set out trout fishing this morning. I fished for about 20 minutes (not catching anything)snagged a rock and was trying to get loose when "SNAP" and the rod broke right above the 3rd ring. The rod is medium light rated for 6lb-8lb and I had 8lb el cheapo line on the reel. My question is....do I try to return to store that is 45 minutes away or try to go through Daiwa? Anybody dealt with thier customer service?
Thanks

The first thing you should do is go to the store and try to exchange it.
If you bought a new set of goodyear tires, the next day drove down the street and had a sidewall failure, you would go back to the tire shop, not contact goodyear directly, right?0 -
I'd take it back to the store. 0 -
Go back to the store.... 0 -
I know that makes sense. Not to argue but gas is dissappearing like Kyle Busch's Championship dreams. 0 -
Took it back to store and they swaped it right out. No problem[:D][:D] 0 -
Go to the store, let them handle replacing it for you. Daiwa makes a good reel they hold up well. I use several of their salt water models and found that if I have had problems parts can be found. I talking about some reels that are 10 years old or older.
Their rods are new to me.
Good luck.0
