I suppose it's because folks don't want to fly.

    Interesting,

I spent about $ 1,600.00 IIRC renting a Suburban in Fort Lauderdale for two weeks in mid February.

Less than $ 100.00 per day before fees, taxes, tolls, tire wear allowance, 15 ounces of gasoline, headlight grease, and God knows what else.

15 ounces of gas in a week? Was that suburban electric?

Have a trip coming up first week of May. We paid little over $300 for a week for full size car. I heard about the $500 per day but that was one of the smaller islands In Hawaii.

Got out to move two shopping carts from handicap slot and 82 year old gent backed into drivers door on my new $66,000 Ram. Never looked and ten seconds earlier would have pinned me next to truck and killed me. Never even said he was sorry.

Sold my second car and for first time in my 78 years I had to rent a car.(from Enterprise) Guess someone ripped up wiper blades over winter and I had a real fun time driving in several rain storms.

Body shop has had my truck one month today. Yep, you guessed it, I don't have rental on my policy! My only hope is that it will get subjucated (sp) and I will get reimbursed. Who knows what the final rental bill will be.

Wished i had never sold my second car. Next time I will call a taxi or pay body shop to take me home. Will walk to grocery store and call 911 in emergency. Never again.---------Ray

Filled up the 30+ gallon tank 5 - 6 times. Last fill was within a mile of the Airport. 15 ounces per mile is not bad for a Brawny Select-a-size V-8.

It is like 4 MPG in city driving.

    Well that's very different.

A lot of that is because the car rental agencies laid off most of their workers and aren't in much of a hurry to get them back. Also a lot of those same workers are making more money on unemployment are making more money then they would make by working. Why do you suppose you can't get people to work its pretty simple.

Hmm we just rented in first week of April from Enterprise as we always do and paid around 300 for a week rental. The price on the rental was through Enterprises web site, I think I selected a medium SUV. I've rented from them for years and the manager always hooks me up, he put us in a Mercedes 350 GLC this time, Wife and I liked driving it but I wouldn't buy one.

I think it had buttons and switches just to have them, Volume knob in three places LOL.

Anyway I just checked my local Enterprise, for a Midsize SUV

    Toyota RAV4 or similar

    • Automatic
    • 5 People
    • 4 Bags

    PAY LATER

    $439.95

    Per Week

I had reserved a Suburban for 2 weeks in mid May- I was going to fly into San Jose and work my way North with the wife & kids then fly out of Seattle (drop rental car at Sea Tac).

I made the reservation last summer thinking all the travel restrictions would be over.

They aren’t so we are not making the trip. I canceled it about a week ago. When I made the reservation it was a bargain-$1,000 for the trip with unlimited milage.
