Lots of divorced folks alternate claiming a child. Father will claim the child in the even years and the mother will claim the child in the odd years.

In this situation, the father or mother received the $1,100 on each kid on the advancement because they claimed them in 2019 and then because the other parent is claiming them on their 2020 return, guess what? They also get the $1,100 because they are entitled to it and did not receive the advancement. And because, if you received an advancement based on 2018 or 2019 info but are now not entitled to it for 2020, you do not have to pay it back. So screwed up.

    How much they giving out??

    Too much.

The stated theory is recipients will go out and spend the money, helping the economy or themselves, especially if paying rent or bills, etc. Of course one wonders why during the last "stick up" consumer bank savings increased by 33%. It would appear robbing Peter boosted the bank account of Paul.

We got a debit card with a total value for the two of us of $112.50 and we spent it on booze. It won't keep me insensate for the next four years, but it'll help.

I used the Stimulus to buy parts and pieces so as to upgrade my custom Mauser mods. It really stimulated me and made me feel better about myself.

Thank You Nancy. Could really use the additional Stimulus money that you are thinking about sending us. I need some scopes and mounts for the Mausers mods.

    Our gov't at its best:

As a retiree rec'd the 1st stimulus check via direct deposit, no problem.

Moved in Oct of 2020 and changed bank accounts. Changed social security direct deposit , no problem.

As new bank account not the same as used on 2019 tax return no 2nd stimulus check rcc'd.

Evidently it would be expecting too much for the fed. govt. to coordinate bank records between the IRS and SSA?

They sent a debit card with 554 on it . Did the card company get the 46 bucks ? It all makes me sick . Our papeR money is about to get worth a whole lot less than the 600 or whatever they send makes anyone “feel “ better !

I also closed my checking account that the first check came to. Tried to change the information but they won't let you so no check this time. Will have to claim it on my Income tax form. Problem is, HOW? Even worse is I can't find anyplace where they do the free Old Geezer tax returns. They have all closed because of (Guess what). They say do it online. That's even worse than trying to do it on paper. The on line sites ask hundreds of stupid questions that have no relevance.
