went and risk my life today............
was coming back through a small comunity on way home today and saw a big red sign, Early Voting!!!! so I pulled in, it was in a local volunteer fire department building. Never once saw a sign stating you needed a mask, just a small one inside the door about keeping your social distancing. Only two folks in line ahead of me and they walked right up to the table, they had 4 poll workers at and guy on end told me to come on over.
asked for some ID, either drivers liscence or concealled permit and voter card, I opened my wallet and told him my drivers liscence was hard to get out, it sticks in the plastic window, he saw my VA card with picture on it and said whats that?? I told him my VA card, showed it to him, he said good enough, him and the lady next to him both thanked me for my service and sent me over to machine to cast my vote.
just as I was finishing up another guy walks over and puts his hand out and says thanks for your service, I shook his hand and turned to go back and turn in the paper ballot out of the machine and another fellow did the same thing came up and shook my hand, I only recognized one of the fellows and still don't know his name just see him around town every now and then, the other folks I have never seen, so much for the social distancing, guess if they were trying to give me the virus its to late I allready voted for Mr Trump, got a feeling they did too though........ nice to live in a small town

Well done by them. Thank you for serving and for voting. 0 -
Figured I would stop in the Registrar's office here in our podunk little county for an absentee ballot- only to find they had a tent set up outside, and poll workers. Gave the nice lady my ID, she handed me a ballot, filled in out, put it in envelope, she asked if I wanted to put in the ballot box, or watch her as she did it. Never left the front seat of my Jeep. Total time in line- 4 minutes. 0 -
About a month ago I was at my local VA clinic for some neurology tests to assess the nerve damage from my hip replacement..........a gentleman much older than me was in the line right in front of me with his wife. He thanked me for my service and said....."welcome home". I didn't catch it at first but then I realized he must have thought that I was home from one of the middle east conflicts. I wasn't ever there..........I was at Ft. Irwin, CA from 89-91.
Just a story about "thanks for your service". When I wear a vet hat at work, I get it a lot. I know that the number of people who have served is small in comparison to the general population but I seem to run into vets all of the time.
Anyway...........to those fellow vets that have also served.............THANK YOU3 -
Sounds like a great town! And Thanks for your service.

Ran the gauntlet on Tuesday, went and early voted and got Grandson registered and voted.
Saw all of three people voting, one as we came in and two others came along as we finished.

Did the early voting last week . Polls were busy but not crowded. News reports say we are on the way to record turnout not seen since Nixon in our county . Wayne county , NC
