How much poop would you have to shake out of your shorts if you were sitting in your living room, minding your own business, and your house starts sliding downhill?????? 0 -
You never know when mother nature is going to just up and kick your ass. 0 -
now only if the state of kal would take it up a notch 3 -
When did this happen? 0 -
I'd have some issues with whomever sold me that real estate. 0 -
If I lived in a similiar area, I'd be checking my homeowners insurance policy like crazy. 0 -
that guy in the house on the far left is gonna have a suprise when he opens the front door, ocean front property, if he don't fall in........ 0 -
When they built the houses, they had no idea that the would become houseboats. That was wild! 0 -
Honey remember when you said, " I wish our house was closer to the ocean".

FCD, their design is based on the old VW's. 😉

Concrete or most any kind of foundation won't hold a house in place when the whole landscape decides to "go to sea".I think the depth of the slide was hundreds of feet deep.

Would you believe a concrete septic tank will float?A little different situation than flood water on top of the ground. I do see you point though.
Some of the homes were destroyed right off but others were being carried along, land mass and all. Read a report that there were no injuries or loss of life. How so? Could have been notified something was up. Look at the amount of water running out of the banks after the slide. Looks like the whole area was sitting on an mud slick.

They've been making concrete ships and boats since back in 1848. The US had concrete ships in WWI & WWII.

Look at the Mulberry project after D-day. Concrete harbours and jetties, built in England. Floated across the channel, and sunk in place, in June 1944 - D Day, WWII.
There are houses on extremely steep mountansides in Europe, that the houses are constructed having a bow shaped prow on the uphill side, similar to a ships bow, in order to displace Avalanche snow flow, not IF but when it happens.
