only good thing with rain.......

as Bpost said it has pretty much rained steady for 3 days or more, with a few heavy downpours mixed in.  just over a week ago we had 2 nights of frost, didn't get my tomatoes covered the second night and lost about half a dozen hairlooms, purple cherokees.  haven't been able to find any replacements as they are sold out locally. also lost a couple mr stripeys. I left them in the ground while looking for replacements and went out back deck just few minutes ago to tear down robins nest, she won't give up trying to build a nest  in my awning, even with 2 maple trees not 20 feet away. anyway the tomatoes seem to be coming out of it, they are greening up and standing tall again, guess it just proves no matter how much city water you put on em, even with miracle grow, you can't beat rain water to make things grow......

    In parts of Utah, we have a system called Secondary Water. It is untreated water straight from a local reservoir, distributed in a pipe system entirely separate from culinary water. It is unmetered and we get charged a small fee for it on our sewer bill. It is for irrigation. The only difference between it and rain is that secondary water contains algae and weed seeds that get into the reservoir. Water the lawn and see weeds pop up!

    BTW, we CAN create water that's even purer than rain. Two parts hydrogen, one part oxygen, plus one spark. Poof! Water!

    hillbille:  you do know how to cut the suckers off, put them in water and root them to make make many new plants.  if not try it, it puts the rooted ones a couple three week behind the others but also keeps the harvest going longer.
