got two letters from VA..

both the same thing and both had same date, guess the computer must have hiccups, it was for a recall of metformin, guess there is something POSSIBLY in it that could cause cancer, but to continue to use it till they send a replacement.  If it wasn't that big a deal why even send letter, just replace the meds at the pharmacy level and be done with it.......

    One reason is that the pharmacy cannot arbitrarily change a doctor's prescription.

    The chemical is NDMA, the same as caused all the recalls on Losartan, and Valsartan (BP meds) over the past few years. It's another problem we can thank China for.

    Great, I just got a refill for that crap the other day. I've been on it for over 10 years. Time to call my Dr.

    They recalled my metformin extended release and changed it to regular metformin. What next......

    Here is another weird one for you. Had a "Virtual" Dr.'s visit a couple days ago with the VA. Dr. Prescribed and agreed to overnight my meds to me. Antibiotics and a Steroid nasal spray for an ongoing nasal infection. Asked "Would they come together?" "I'm not sure." Got the Antibiotics yesterday. (One day late.) Have still not seen the Steroid spray.

    Love it.

    I do however appreciate what they are doing for me.

    (But) Why would two different meds being overnighted from the same pharmacy to the same patient, go in two different packages? 🤔

    I just looked up the Metformin recall. there are 5 manufacturers that the recall affects. Fortunately, my Metformin is made by a different company. The 5 manufacturers are:
    • Actavis Pharma Inc.,
    • Amneal Pharmaceuticals, LLC,
    • Apotex Corp.,
    • Lupin Pharma and
    • Marksans Pharma Ltd.
    The recall is for excessive amounts of a cancer-causing chemical in the pills.

    Yeah...checked my VA metformin bottle...NO mfg on the label... :#

    I stopped using metformin years ago. The side effects were a no-go for me. 
    Glad I stopped using it when I did.

    The pharmacy chains have figured out that there are too many drugs in use to stock every one of them in every pharmacy.  Especially the expensive drugs & those with a short shelf life.  Most companies deliver the less common drugs overnight to every store.  The same for "mail order" pharmacies; they have multiple warehouses, your Rx order might require shipment from different facilities.
    By Federal law, the name of the manufacturer, packer, or distributor must be printed on the label.
