1892 Question

I have a fascination with 19th century lever action, single shot, single action, and other various 19th century rifles and pistols and reproductions.

I am purchasing a new manufacture 1892 lever action made by Miroku (with a tang safety) and note it has a steel endcap.

Reviewing pictures, I see 1892s with barrel bands and 1892s with steel endcaps.

What determined which a rifle would have?

BTW a Marbles rear sight will be installed over the tang safety.

  Barrel bands were used for Carbines and Muskets. The "Rifle" variation used the steel end cap on the forend stock.

  Thank you Bert. This thing is being marketed as a short rifle.
