Remington 121 sling swivel
I would like to put a sling on my 121 but I'm at a loss when it comes to the front swivel. Since the magazine tube moves the clamp on type is out. Has anyone drilled and tapped the magazine thimble for a 10-32 stud? If so, is it thick enough for sufficient threads? Any other ideas? Thanks

I checked my 121 and do not think there is enough metal in the ring to Thread... Silver solder probably best bet. 0 -
I haven't dragged mine out to look. Checking pic's from the auction side of 121s, these are my thoughts. Guess it depends on if you want permanently modify the rifle and the balance of the rifle with the sling on your shoulder or across your back.
A clamp on the outer magazine tune would work as long as it was located out of the range required for operating threw the thimble.
A split barrel band clamp could be place onto the barrel with the stud pointing to side.
An metal insert into the forearm wood for a stud.
Make or modify a split clamp to fit over the thimble. Score a used thimble weld a thick nut to it for the stud; weld the stud to the thimble.
Option for rear.
A 1/4 piece of aluminum set between the butt plate and butt stock. drilled ad tapped for a stud.
Uncle Mike's has some split clamps
