  can't remember the lady who sang that song, back in 80's, but wife got text from my son last night he is over half done with his PHD and teaches at WVu, his new wife just got accepted to the PHD program with a mentor and a healthy stiffund?? can't believe they will pay her to get her PHD, she graduated as biomechanical engineer. guess this old boy is gonna have a couple DRs in the family.... even if they ain't real doctors to take care of me in my old age, at least they an afford a nice nursing home for me ;)

    the word you are looking for is "stipend"  meaning-in her case,  she will probably teach some of the classes to undergraduates.  thats her salary so to speak.

      thanks bigal, thats it, change a few words and it hits home today as much as it did back then............
      discusdad, I had heard him say it, just never knew the spelling, the boy got my brains, but I think he got the milkmans english/spelling to get as far as he has
