    I see vertical and counterclockwise when viewed from the top when there are no axis references, but see both when the reference axis is added.

    I see pretty much what Don sees, except I see CW rotation when there is no axis reference. I then see CCW rotation if I stare at it for a bit, but if I look away and then back it is CW again.
