Utah just passed or is considering (I only read part of the article) a new "per mile" fee for all-electric vehicles on the rationale that those cars use the highway infrastructure but don't pay gasoline taxes. Probably record odometer reading every year at registration time and bill accordingly, I'm guessing. That makes eminent good sense, actually. Maybe they'd expand the idea and charge all non-hunters and non-anglers a fee for the wildlife programs they don't use and licenses they don't buy. AND, in Utah, charge all the Mormons a teetotaler fee! 0 -
