    The physical pain.

    I retired 2 weeks after I became eligible and the emotional relief was immense. I have not regretted my actions for one second. My job had changed so much over the years it had become unbearable. Managers that had worked their way up the chain were replaced by college grads with management degrees and no experience.
    They tried EI (Employee Involvement) and after it flopped they took away lower level management's authority but still held us accountable for getting the job done. Employees said, "You're not the boss of me!" and the union protected them.

    This was the Federal Aviation Administration!

    As a country, we are doomed.

    I have thourghly enjoyed the 11 years since and hope to enjoy what little is left of my retirement before it all blows up in our faces.

    Some of my thoughts on retirement are.
    1. Today starts my 7 day weekend.
    2. If I knew retirement was going to be this much fun I would have never went to work.
    3. The worst day and I mean the very worst day I have had since I retired was wonderful.

    while I try and enjoy each day of retirement, not sure I would count those " colonostomy " days as wonderful......
