RIP Junior
Junior Johnson died age 88
What a great guy and a fantastic driver.
I watched a show about him and he said the fastest car he ever drove was a moon shine running car

RIP Junior, YOU were NASCAR0 -
One of a kind, a true pioneer of the sport long before TV and big corporate sponsors. Somewhere along the line I managed to acquire a signed picture of him from the early days of racing. R.I.P. Junior. 0 -
?On December 26, 1986, President Ronald Reagan granted Johnson a presidential pardon for his 1956 moonshining conviction. In response to the pardon, which restored his right to vote, Johnson said, "I could not have imagined anything better."

He only served about a year, might go pickup a jar of Midnight Moon and have a toast to Junior.jimdeere wrote:?On December 26, 1986, President Ronald Reagan granted Johnson a presidential pardon for his 1956 moonshining conviction. Got to meet him many years ago in Daytona, sad to see all the old timers falling away.

I showed him a pic yrs ago of myself as a child sitting in an Indy Car Smokey Yunick had built in the pits for the Indy 500 race. It brought a huge smile to his face cause Smokey and him were huge innovators for racing. Chevrolet geniuses . RIP Junior 0 -
I stopped at a couple of liquor stores this afternoon looking for a jar of his Midnight Moon none of them had it. Guess I will just pick something good from my bar to toast him with.Horse Plains Drifter wrote:
