Not a good Christmas around here
December 5 at 12:55 PM, I opened an email from our niece she sent at 11:50. In a few words, she stated that since I was the only person she knew who regularly checks email, she wanted to let me know that by the time I received it, she would be dead. She put a gun to her head at about 12 noon. She was an alcoholic and had been really depressed for the last several months. No replies to our calls, emails, PMs since August. She lived 700 miles from us, and had completely disconnected from everyone including her daughter who lived in the same town. I contacted the police department there, and they handled the investigation well. The policeman called to tell me they found her in her car. We sent her mother there by plane to meet her other daughter and granddaughter to do what needed to be done. Cremation was done, Insurance company totaled the car, the house (which she owned) was cleaned out to be sold. She did have a life insurance payable to her daughter which we are told had been in force long enough to pay off even after suicide. A sad end to a life only 50 years old, but it's the way she chose to end it. Prayers appreciated for her soul and family.

Damn... Why do people choose a time that is "supposed" to be joyous to do such a thing.
My heart felt condolences go out to you and yours. A sad time indeed.

I'm sorry for your loss, specially at this time of year. Our grand daughter did this 3 years ago, just before Christmas. It can really sour the season, unfortunately for years to come. Time is helping to heal and I pray that you & your family will heal. 0 -
