Winchester Trench Gun Barrel
Picked this up today at a Gun Show.
Looks to be for a Winchester Trench Gun. Model ?
It's a 12 Ga 20" with the correct 3 three inletted area for screws for the Trench gun Shroud
Appears to be un used, with grease still inside the bore, no markings on barrel from use
Has a 41- and index mark on the bottom of barrel and No proof marks on barrel.
But .... seems to be strange. the Barrel is Marked Made iIN THE U.S.A and the 2 /3/4 CHAM CYL" is in different script.
Not Roll Marked for Model 12 or 1897 Last Pattent date isJuly 5 1910
What might I have here?

Counterfeit comes to mind. Perhaps Burt can offer some insight. Hope he doing better. 0 -
I know Norinco makes a 97 copy, but they wouldn't make the barrels like that. The iIN stamp could have been an oops, and got set aside as a second.
Emailed Bert to have a look.0 -
It appears to be a mail order replacement barrel manufactured for a WW I Solid frame Trench Gun. I am somewhat surprised that it does not have a "P" in oval proof mark stamp on the top of the barrel. It could have been a leftover factory replacement barrel that was never used, and was subsequently disposed of at a later date. 0 -
Thanks Burt. That makes more since.
Sold a surplus? Probably not proofed till on a firearm?
The Made in USA was what was puzzling.
Thanks dave0
