Trying To Lose Weight + Fit Bit 3
In 2010 when i got cancer i weighed about 168 pounds but it was all muscle. I was a workout and running nut along with a workaholic.
After working 12 to 14 hours i would run a few miles when i got home to relax and unwind. After working over 12 hours for some reason i did not want to lift weights but for some reason running would help me relax. I guess because it was no thinking just muscle memory.
After cancer i got down to around 105 pounds. After laying in bed over a year i had no muscles anymore. My cancer doctor told me in the very beginning that if it was not for me being in great shape that i would not have a chance of making it. He then gave me a 5 to 10% chance to make it. LOL
After 2011 when everything was done they put me on medicine to gain weight. I got up to 225 pounds before someone realized i did not need that medicine anymore. So from 2012 until now i was walking around at about 210 pounds.
On Nov 10th i bought a Fit Bit Charge 3 from my daughters pawn shop and played with it for a day or 2 and then it was on. Since then i have lost 23 pounds. I weigh 192.8 now but my goal is 180 pounds. Im thinking 160 pounds. LOL
The only problem is all the muscles i got from a kid until 45 are all gone. After cancer i cant really exercise anymore everything is on a day by day basis. However i am 54 and i am still alive so i am thankful of that and have no complaints because so so many people who have had what i had are not here anymore.
I love the fit bit 3 because it shows my sleep pattern and my heart beat. Who knew my resting heartbeat is between 53 and 56. During my sleep i am up over 1 hour while i thought i was sleeping.
It also shows my calories used plus calories i take in. I have to input it though. Steps walked and calories used plus how many steps ive taken plus how many flights of stairs i have walked up.
It helps an old 54 year old broke down man get a little bit motivated to do a little bit more.
Im really glad i bought it. Not just because i got it dirt cheap. LOL It has helped me a lot.
If anybody needs a little motivation it has helped me a lot. However i am at 191 or 192 down from 215 but i have hit a wall.
Somehow i have to get past this roadblock. I will toughen it out and make it to 180 and then i will tough it out and reset my goal to 160 pounds just minus the muscles.

One will lose weight by reducing the amount of food one eats.

Great weight loss methods.
Put a 60# pack on walk all day and eat 1 MRE a day. I lost 50#'s in 62 days and gained a bunch of muscle.
Eat nothing for 7 days then only eat a cup of rice and 4 sardines once a day for 20 days.................
Another way is get C-Diff. I lost 50 pounds in 2 months.
Now I am on the stress diet and am still loosing weight...............0 -
I'm pushing 70 years old and will admit I'm not in as good condition as normal due to the hip replacement. I weigh less than the average for height scale even though I don't eat the right variety of foods. What happens is, I often only eat one meal per day and 2-4 days per week my lunch is a granola bar and cup of coffee from the thermos while driving. Constantly on the go and sleep in a cold/cool room helps a lot.
During the summer when I can be out 12-14 hours per day, I lose 2-3 pounds per week simply due to lower calorie intake vs expenditure. Eat less, burn more and you'll lose weight.0 -
I have dropped over 100 pounds in the past 18 months. It works like this: No matter which fad diet you choose, you must burn more calories than you take in, and you must keep your protein intake relatively high to minimize muscle loss. It is best to work with a nutritionist, to know what level to maintain. Exercise helps burn calories, and need not be high impact. I worked on a treadmill, and weight machines along with hiking around the mountains and in cities. London and Paris were fun, Rome and Florence even more so, I recommend that. Most fad diets do not work long term, and you must plan on a change in your life style and eating habits. Even if you have gastric surgery, if you go back to eating donuts, cookies, chips and pizza, you will put the weight right back on. You have to commit to eating right the rest of your life to stay thin(er). Sugar certainly seems to be addictive, but when you do without for a while you lose the craving. If you start eating it again the craving is back.
The prescription is simple, the discipline is where we all come up a little short.
Best of Luck!0
