A trucker has been missing since late last month and drivers are being asked to keep an eye out for him and his truck.
The Missing Truck Driver Alert Network posted an alert that David C. Day, a 63-year-old driver for Al-Amin Brothers Transportation has gone missing. He was supposed to be dropping off a load in Sterling, Illinois on 11/28/19, but never arrived. He had fueled up in Irving, NY on 11/27/19.
According to the post, he most likely used US 20 to avoid tolls. Day?s phone was pinged near Toledo, Ohio on November 30th. His ELD has been disconnected.
Day is 63 years old, 5?9? and around 178 pounds. He has hazel eyes and brown salt and pepper hair. He drives a Dark Red 2011 Volvo VNL64T, VIN# 299508, with an Illinois license plate P1006352. On the back of his white trailer, there?s a blue logo for Al-Amin Brothers Transportation.

I remember when Allen was hauling a truckload of Jim Beam. That would have been a valuable cargo to hijack.0 -
With the electronic tracking turned off, or blocked, it's one of two things. He is either hijacked and dead, or he black marketed the load, and left for his home country, or another one. A number of these trucks turn up in Mexico, where the truck, trailer, and load are bought for pennies on the dollar.
Twice I was sent to pick up "missing" trucks that were found in a truck stop parking lot. Both had dead drivers in the sleeper, one from a heart attack, the other from a hookers knife in the heart. Refused to drive either truck because of the stench from the bodies.
One I had to pick up, "had" a trailer full of Sony TV's. Empty trailer, cab cleaned out, and 10gals of fuel in the tank. Driver was in a bar drinking with a young lady after he picked up the load, and fueled his truck. Woke up the next day handcuffed to a motel bed naked, and everything he owned was gone.0 -
Sam, alcohol, packaged meat, and electronics are all high risk. Anytime I had to haul those kinds of loads, I cut the seal off that would ID the load, and put on a seal from Purina, from a bag full one of their dock workers gave me. My younger brother drives and does the same seal trick. He gives the receiving dock supervisor the original seal for record keeping.0 -

WEST UNITY, Ohio (WTVG) - Troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol found a truck driver dead in a semi at an an Ohio Turnpike service plaza Friday afternoon.
Troopers were sent to the Indian Meadows Service Plaza in Williams County to check on the well-being of the driver, who was later identified as David Day, 63, of New Plymouth, Idaho. Authorities say Day was found in the sleeping section of the cab of the semi and was unresponsive.
According to a release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Day was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Williams County Coroner's Office assisted at the scene. There was no sign of foul play involved and his death is under investigation.

He was found yesterday. Weird. If his GPS were not turned off, they would have found him within a day.
Good God if he died 14 days ago I am glad I wasn't working that call. I worked too many of those, when I was a paramedic.0 -
Begs the question how and why it was turned off. 14 days and that truck was probably sealed up tight due to the cold. They have to total it, never get that smell out. And no one noticed a truck sitting there for two weeks? 0 -

Good question! If the engine is idling, it uses a gallon per hour. Not unusual for a truck to hold 280 gallons.
If the truck has the little diesel powered generator, called the APU, which will run the cab heat or a/c, then it uses just 1 quart per hour.0
