Are these that rare? I ask because one in extreme rusty condition sold on the auction side yesterday for $501 (#847825030). There were four bidders at over $450! I can't imagine that would ever clean up to be presentable.

  Since a 541S is next on my list I was watching that auction, and like you, was astounded at the final selling price. S models aren't that rare, but bring more $$ than the T's, probably due to the engraving, nicer wood and the adjustable triggers. I keep holding off hoping to find one at a better deal than what they are currently selling for. But it looks like i might have to bite the bullet and cough up the going rate if I don't want to wait forever..
