GreatGuns wrote:Thanks for the link Gary! We marinated a whole baby goat in Coke overnight, then roasted it on an open wood fire. Incredible flavor! The sugar in the Coke (or in this case Dr. Pepper) caramelizes the skin, making it crispy and sweet. :P

Man o Man I love Goat!
Too bad you cannot get it in the store.0 -
Had that for dinner last Saturday night. I used this marinade, simple recipe and it was really good.
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
2 teaspoons minced garlic
Salt and pepper to taste
Recipe comes from a site called Legendary Whitetails.0 -

I wish we were closer Sam. We have two local farms (Lolo and Frenchtown) that offer young goats. I've roasted a few of them over the years.

I go to the sale barn and buy one every year around SEP and BBQ it.
When I was training soldiers in Africa at the end of each week I would buy a goat for them and we would cook it along with rice and beans and a spinach dish. A goat would cost me about $15.
I really like goat and lamb.0 -
Kid goat is my absolute favorite meat, hands down. First had it in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, roasted over mesquite coals. Thought I'd entered Valhalla. San Antonio and points south are still the only places I've found that serve it in restaurants - and I never miss getting it when I'm there. Next best is truly young milk lamb - unweaned. 0 -
Had my 1st backstrap medallions a couple weeks ago.
Kosher Salt, Pepper, on a hot charcoal grill. 2 minutes on side.
