Wife practically ecstatic this morning
She just loves to "rescue" critters and our neighbor came knocking on the door with a chocolate pit bull in tow that had apparently been sleeping on the neighbor's porch. It didn't take too long to find out the pit bull regularly escapes from an elderly lady a few blocks away.
Then she found another dog, looks like a min-pin or possibly a mixed breed puppy. It was dragging a cable permanently attached to a collar and the cable had got snagged on something.
Both dogs are in crates in our house, which aggravates me since we have no idea if either is up on shots Our dogs have had shots but the small dog isn't wearing a flea collar.
Wife was so excited she almost called in late to work but I told her I can handle it. I will be "late" for work but I set my own hours so no penalty other than lost productivity.

I count dogs above most humans... At least you know exactly where you stand in the hierarchy.
Most dogs also place a very high tolerance to human stupidity and overlook the inhumane acts that most humans bestow on animals. However, no creature can take getting kicked forever.
Good on you and your wife for extending a helping hand. Your new found friends will remember the kindness. 8-)0 -
The animal shelter lady recognized the pit bull and got us in touch with the owner and I took it home.
Unfortunately I let the small back dog loose in our fenced back yard that keeps our dogs in just fine. Not so this one. So now he's loose without any collar and the chain he had been dragging around is on our back porch.0 -

Well, yes, I thought some folks might think along those lines.
Through social media the dog was recognized as a regular escape artist and I returned the collar and chain he had been dragging around.
Wife very unhappy that I let the dog escape.0
