Idiot postal worker delivered a gun to the wrong place and I get bad feedback!
You can't make this mess up. You do everything right....and somehow things get all messed up.
We shipped a gun to the address on an FFL that the customer sent to us. The box had "Attention (customers name)" which is normal for the MANY transactions we deal with.
It turns out that the customer has a deli that is next door to the FFL. So, this moron postal worker thinks he is going to "help" and take it directly to the guy....ignoring the label on the box, the address on the label.....and even letting him sign for the package.
Instead of the customer realizing that the postal worker is a MORON he gives US bad feedback. No phone call, no email, nothing at all to indicate something out of the ordinary has happened.
I had to double check things and it took a call to the FFL to sort out what happened. The FFL said "it was delivered directly to the customer and he brought it to us".......I check the label and it has the right address, but has been signed for by the customer. Then the FFL said "he has a deli right next door" and I knew then what happened.
The customer should know this as well and shouldn't have taken the box when the idiot took it to him.
I have a million things going on and this shouldn't eat me up like it does, but it has so I'm venting.

I see no benefit to putting the customer's name anywhere on the shipping label. The buyer's name and contact info goes onto the invoice where only the receiving FFL can see it. To be honest, if I were a non licensee (and it's hard for me to remember a time in my life when I didn't hold an FFL) and someone delivered a firearm directly to me, I wouldn't be complaining. I doubt I'd say a word about it. 0 -
I don't know how you can be a postal worker and just altogether ignore a label on a box.
We get several boxes every week and almost all of them have a customer's name on the outside. Its helpful because I know what is being sent to us to be sold and I only have a few transfers. I wouldn't want a gun someone sent to me to get listed on Gun Broker to be sitting over on the pile of transfers waiting on someone to show up.0 -
What Mark said. 0 -
The label has the business name on it.....the business address......the label was ignored.
Its the equivalent of saying the bumper sticker on a car is ok to use instead of the registration when you are checking the ownership of a car.0 -
It is really very simple. People are stupid. I had a guy a couple of weeks ago threaten to report me for selling a "Fake Gun" here on GB. This was after he had won an auction and was pissed cause I refused to send the gun and hi cap mags to his house in Massachusetts. People are stupid. About ten years ago I had a mail man sign for a revolver and stick it in our mail box. When the next day I asked him about the "Adult Signature Required" he replied I did sign it. 0 -

A call to the postmaster general and your local law enforcement or FBI will prevent it from occurring in the future, I'm thinking!

I'm of the opinion it would get the stupid postal worker canned so he can't do it again!

Its Christmas time, part time workers pick up extra hours helping deliver mail on different routes.
He/she knows "Bob Smith" owns the deli at 1234 Main St not 1236 Main st some moron put on the label.0 -
Working with gov here. Rather then go postal. Give the buyer the option to correct his rating of you. Or you give him a bad rating for not receiving the item in good faith.... 0 -
I'm going to call that post office tomorrow. I am also calling the customer and pointing out how silly this is of them to leave us a bad review saying it was sent to the wrong place....when the label has the business name and address on it. He should chew out his postal worker if he wants to gripe about what happened. 0 -
If you own a business, and want to get by with the least amount of problems possible, the first thing you need to learn is that a LOT of people are freaking morons,.....BLITHERING IDIOTS!!!
Don't do anything that may help to confuse them. They manage to be confused naturally all by themselves.0 -
I've had that happen a few times on the receiving end, customers will bring me a gun that was delivered to their house instead of the address on the box, so places don't put the store name and ATTN: like you do, they just put the customer name and our store address, which is REALLY stupid, especially in a small town. I typically just log it in and go about my day, it has only happened a few times.
I wouldn't worry too much about the idiot mailman more so the idiot who blamed you, I see you left him bad feedback in return. I'm surprised no one is jumping you about that yet, from previous threads here over the years it seems if a buyer has paid many here think only an A+ is appropriate for sellers to leave as feedback even when there is trouble with some buyers that are for lack of a better term...idiots. Like the one you are dealing with now.0 -
I wouldn't have done that if he had emailed...called or given ANY hint there was an issue at all.
I just can't believe this guy is too simple to see what happened. When the box came to him instead of the store he should have realized it wasn't because it was sent to the wrong place.....but DELIVERED to the wrong place.0 -
could be I guess, that the mailman man said "Hey! Joe! I'll bet this is you new gun!"

Heres how I see it.
Under normal circumstances;
Sending and receiving FFLs are clear, Carrier subject to being "written up". if no past history then just on record. If past history then mabe termination.
Buyer committed a crime. Nothing will happen.
If anti-gun liberal reads post then ATF and media notified. If slow news day then news. If promotion time at ATF then buyer has problems and mabe FFLs will need attorneys but won't be convicted of any thing. Nothing changes for carrier. Buyer, well,,,,,,,,,,,,
Time to improve on mailing labels and remove post.0 -
You are looking at this from the wrong angle. The buyer accepted the package knowing well what was in it. By signing the delivery the buyer has committed a crime. Ignorance of the law is no excuse. 0 -
I agree with Selectfire. is a law breaker. But I am semi rural. we have firearms left out in rain with signature needed when no one is home. Had packages left when door was open an signature is needed.Had a rifle left at number 110 right under the number when my number is 101. The holiday help is real STUPID. Not much you can due the post master has his hands tied too dealing with them. 0 -
One thing I have noticed is people are really uptight and kind of angry all the time.
If that had happened to me I wouldn't have said a thing. I would have walked next door to my buddys gunshop did the paperwork and moved on.
But in todays world people feel like they have to make a statement or get back at anything that doesn't go 110% their way.
Give him a C for being an AH and block him from bidding.0
