No doubt she believes what she is saying, but there can be little doubt that her obsession is a combination of her condition and the environment in which the climate change information was presented and promoted.
She is not to blame. She is a creation of that environment, be it her parents or a public discourse hell-bent upon telling future generations that we are condemning them to live at the top of Ararat eating cockroaches and lichens and eventually each other in order to survive.
I do not believe she should have been named person of the year, but the mistake was not her mistake, it was the decision by a failing magazine that attempted to find relevance by furthering the exploitation of this child.
Time would have been better served if they had made her person of the year as an exemplar of child exploitation with the goal being the creation of a movement whereby the most vulnerable in our society are not used and mis-used to further an agenda.0 -
