    Tucker is right on point. I have owned my small business for 34 years and I cannot even begin to tell you how many other small businesses I have seen close because this happened when larger businesses closed. The large business supported the economy which then supported the small businesses in these small towns.

    Corruption is as corruption does. "Steal" an apple off a tree in the road medium because you are hungry; you are going to prison. Become a billionaire by stealing millions at time - you become owner of CONgress. I'll bet he funds Nancy "Poopcity" Piglosi too.

    Singer only enabled Johhny Morris' desire to own Cabelas. Johhny had a woody for Cabelas for years and years before Singer put that deal together.

    Cabelas going public was a mixed blessing. It gave them the capital to greatly expand the business but at the same time made them vulnerable to the whims of the shareholders. After Dick died and Jim took over more and more family pressure was put on him. It is my understanding that rather than piss away a ton of money fighting the shareholders he decided to sell. There was talk of a stock buy back but this would have raised the stock price and Cabelas couldn't afford it. Johnny wanted the business (who wouldn't) and raised the capital to buy it. BassPro is a privately owned business but now have a couple of major creditors to the tune of a couple of billion bucks. Unfortunately with that debt hanging over your head they couldn't support two headquarters and order fulfillment staffs. The winners in this are the Cabelas family who got to keep their billions and the predatory venture capitalists. The losers are the long time employees and the community they supported. Notice I didn't say Johnny Morris came out a winner. With that kind of debt it is to early to call him a winner. Bob

    I suppose you can be a winner with your money, but I would rather have respect. I don't think you can buy "real" respect - no matter how much money you have.
