sent my first text.........
as I have stated here a few times, I don't own a cell phone and have no use for one. My son got married this fall and he and his new wife are all into that and the new techy stuff. He told me at deer camp his new wife didn't think I liked her because I didn't respond to her on facebook or send her texts, neither of which I have or do. so last night I got a sheet of paper and told her how special she was as she was getting my first and only text, and printed in large letters with magic marker, TEXT, and just now got done putting it in the mailbox, I have a question for you folks who do the texting stuff, how long should I wait for a response????????????

I have a cell phone but I don't text either. My phone is a flip phone. I also tell people not to leave me a message. Just hang up and I will call you back.
My wife gets PO'ed when I don't answer the phone. I don't carry it around with me all the time and if I am working on a car or using some loud device like a leaf blower I damn sure don't hear it.
Sometimes I even leave it at home when I go to town

I text a lot. It is convenient for me. I answer when I can. Like NOT when driving or when unsafe. Once you do it you will find it worthwhile IMO. 0 -
Emergency flip phone here. I turn it on once a month to delete the text that tells me they've added more time to my account. Last time I checked, I have something like 11 days of carryover time. Except for the times when I call home to say I've arrived somewhere safely or I'm headed back, that's all I use it. 0 -

My personal preferential mode of communication. Text me. If/when I can, I will text you back. I very rarely pick up on my ringing phone. (Ever.) Unless I feel like talking, (not often) and your # comes up on my phone, as someone I know.0 -

Another thing I have found with cell phones is people get mad when your transmission is not up to par. My wife gets all bent out of shape if I am fading in and out.
Why its not my fault and getting mad doesn't fix it.
I really don't like cell phones...............I guess it comes from having a radio strapped to me all the time and talking on it a lot. When I came back from Iraq after a long tour I found myself saying over on the phone or answering with my call sign0 -
Texting is a blessing. Possible tenants text me their full names for back ground checks. If I get one that is not capable or renting I book mark their phone number in my phone as a Z.. last letter of the alphabet . I will add something like ..evictions.. credit.. so when they call again.. It comes up a Z with their phone number. I do not answer. 0 -
On my phone all day everyday with business and with the kids (both of my kids are more apt to text than talk) 0 -
I get quite a few texts but I send very few. I know how to type, but I simply cannot use the touchpad on the phone. In all honesty, I don't understand how anyone can type more than a single sentence on a touchpad. 0 -

Both of my kids and wife are more likely to text than call me . What kills me is wife will text me from the bedroom rather than walk into the den to ask me something 0 -

If my phone had a keyboard the size of my laptop......sure! I'd text. My flip phone is just a phone. Designed to call and talk to people. Only use it for emergencies or when away from home.
Why would I BS about something like texting? I assume the term applies to smart phone written (typed) communications.
If I wanted to BS you smitty, it would be about fishing!!0 -
