True UFO story!!

My Dad's co-pilot during WWII flew for one of the major airlines during the 50s to 70s. Gus had a regular flight from Dayton, Ohio(??) to NYC. One night on his return from NYC, after dark, he saw some lights he said were doing things no plane could do. Slowing WAY down, than incredible acceleration, things like right angle turns. Gus flew over 30 combat missions in B-24s with my Dad as his nosegunner and just like Dad bailed out three times when they got shot down. In other words a credible witness. This activity was witnessed by the rest of the flight crew, passengers and people on the ground. Because of Gus' combat record he was the one the press interviewed. Gus also called Dad and told Dad about it.

A short time later the Air Force reactivated Gus and sent him somewhere in the Alaska area to be a radar operator. From piolet to radar operator?? I don't remember how long he was a radar operator but when Dad and Gus got together after he got back to Ohio and Dad asked him about the UFO, Gus looked Dad in the face and said "What UFO??" Dad and Gus were both from Ohio and would get together every year or two. I can remember my brother and I playing with Gus' two sons. They maintained a relationship into their 70s.

Dad and I were talking some 20 years ago when the two men were in their 70s. Dad said that Gus told him he was to damned old for the Air Force to do anything to him at this point and yes he saw a UFO and yes it did things no plane could do back in the 50s and he said there was still (in the 90s) no plane that could do what he witnessed clear back in the 50s.

I'm sure I have some of the story boogered up a little but the gist of this story is 100% true.

    Not sure, but I think it was Pres. Carter who said he was going to find out about the UFO thing once elected POTUS.

    Never heard a word about it once he was sworn in . :shock: :lol:

    Just like what I read about the Roswell incident. A big alien UFO crash story (with dead aliens) turned into a lost weather balloon after the military showed up! :roll:

    That's very interesting! When I was a Senior in High School (1962-63), late one night three of us were standing outside of our cars at a friend's house when we noticed a bright light traveling across the sky above us. It made similar maneuvers and to this day, we still believe we saw/witnessed an unexplainable event! At one point the one we witnessed made an unexplainable and immediate 360 degree reversal along the same line of travel! :o :shock:

    I believe that UFOs piloted by aliens do visit our planet. And I believe that our government has been covering up ever since Roswell.

    Yes, Carter said he would spill the beans but he never did. I think Trump also said he would reveal the truth.

    It is a fascinating enigma I hope the truth comes out during my life time.

    I'm willing to bet that Gus wasn't demoted from Pilot to Radar Operator, but was assigned as the Officer in charge of a radar unit. Perhaps somewhere along the DEW line.

    Pops was a USAF radar operator and then NCOIC of a station guarding Detroit from the Soviets from 1954 thru 1963. The USAF spent plenty of $$$ on Project Bluebook. Will that or any of the other AF studies about UFOs ever be declassified? I doubt it.

    I've heard stories from the horses mouth. No dates, names or locations (with the exception of one location), but my father wasn't one to make up stories.

    I was watching a passenger plane moving away from me at around 7 miles when a meteor???? came over the horizon to my right (south) and covered an estimated 20 mies+ in seconds. The meteor did a vertical downward fish hook turn around the flight path of the airliner and then disappeared the same direction (south) without losing any noticeable speed. A conservative estimate would be around 14 thousand MPH. Which seems plausible for a meteor except for the 180-degree fishhook turn. The airliner wasn't all that high yet as it likey took off from an airport 20 miles from me.

    Come on, tell us one of your stories from the horse's mouth. I love UFO stories. I have never seen a UFO but love to hear a good UFO story.

    My BIL was in charge of writing a paper on the Roswell Incident for the AF. He started out as a believer but as claim after claim couldn't stand up to careful inspection and he ended up saying it was a radar experiment like the govt said.

    He died of a stroke too young and I never got a chance to talk to him much (and he wouldn't say much either) but we all got the feeling that although Roswell was pure hype there were stories that couldn't be easily explained.

    When I was teaching Middle School science and kids would ask about aliens I would just point out how many stars are in the universe and that if only one star in a million had planets and of one in a million planets had life there was a good chance there could be life on other planets.

    The problem is time and distance. How many lifetimes would it take to travel from there to here?

    Yes, I've seen things that are hard to explain, but "aliens" are harder for me to accept than "we don't know"

    The only hard part is trying to determine how an entity can travel a long distance in a short time, or how one might hide a short distance away.

    Then one has to recognize that less than 600 years ago many people thought the earth was flat. The exception to that for the most part were the civilizations that existed prior to 15,000 years ago who left evidence that they had knowledge of space travel, as well as other things that still very much puzzle us to this day.
