RUSSIA
Ever since the Diapercrats lost the election they have been smearing Trump in a three year long impeachment vendetta that is rapidly coming to a head. During this time we have learned that Russia is still the number one enemy of America according to the Diapercrats and their neo-con GOP colleagues...more specifically their drag queens, as they attempt to continue the Cold War. A lot of these Swampers are not only at each other's throats nowadays as Trump attempts to flush them to the sewer, a lot of Americans are talking about why Russia should be our ally instead of our biggest enemy as they want the world to believe, especially since they see China as the biggest threat to our way of life. What are your thoughts on courting Russia to be our ally?

Russia would be a logical ally in the world geopolitical confrontation with China, kimi.
IMO, the Russian society will require at least another generation or two before they can develop a trustworthy government.
It is not too early to begin courting the better nature of the Russian peoples, but it is too early for an engagement, much less a marriage.0 -

Russia is a second-rate power with a third-rate economy which is masking itself as important. Takeaway its nuclear arsenal and it is just a big ass country filled with a lot of poor people. That is not their fault; it is the hand they've been dealt for centuries. As Don said, the Russians are generations away from developing a government which can be trusted. That won't happen until Putin is gone, and he isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Good relations with Russia would be nice, but not vital. We have the kind of military and economic clout that Putin can only dream of. Unlike ourselves, Russia's global influence is limited. We have a navy which has been unchallenged at sea since the Battle of Midway which we can send anywhere we please. Putin lacks a blue-water navy, and naval power is key. I see no direct benefit to our making any great effort to court favor with the Russians- other than my getting a Russian visa without having to pay $300! 0 -
It really does suck how the losers of our last Presidential election have taken the old "poor sport" attitude into the most extreme place in American history! Bitch, wine, and moan since 2016 and doing everything imaginable (and unimaginable) into play day after day after day! I for one am downright sick to my core about todays political climate.
It is in our best interest to keep Russia in the loop of friendly powers. That does not mean sleeping with them.0 -

Exactly, which is precisely why we should not continue the archaic Cold War attitude we had against Russia during our younger days. We do not need to demonize Russia in general and drive them to China's side. We need to get rid of such hateful type of thinking and start courting the better nature of the Russian people, like Don said. In this day and age change is brought about far quicker than one usually thinks, and I highly suspect such change is not as far off as we might believe.0 -

Politics and propaganda are one thing, actually meeting and interacting with the people is another. I've known more than a few Russians, most were good trustworthy people. The working-class Russian folk actually have more in common with conservative America than Republicans do with Democrats.
I don't think I've ever been judged by a Russian for the politics of my government. Your average Russian is a pragmatist and not really prone to political excess. Even the communists are often good folk.
I was living in a Russians multi-family dwelling, I had a Batchelor furnished apartment. I was shipped out quick (military), two days notice. I cleaned the apartment, left everything as I found it. Three years later I ran across my old landlord while shopping, he invited me over for coffee. He gave me an envelope with my security deposit. Not very many people that honest, a Russian Communist?0 -

Currently one cannot consider Russia without considering Putin, just a one cannot consider the USA without consider President Trump.
Both are temporary.
Putin less temporary than Trump, but still temporary.
The US and Russia can both win long term. If it gives Putin and/or Trump a short term win, I do not see any harm.0
