friend of mine worked in the bio-med dept of a local hospital. he bought a muzzle loader that would shoot well and he was convinced there was something wrong with the barrel. he took a colonoscopy camera and took wonderfully detailed pictures of the inside of the barrel and sent them to the company. shortly thereafter the president of the company called him and wanted to know how he took the pictures. i have often wondered if this occurrence was the beginning of the "bore cam", because im sure this company made good use of that technology. 0 -
Bore cams have been around for a long time except for the fact that they were prohibitively expensive in the original form. I had a friend who designed this type of equipment who kindly lent me his demo model to use. That was probably 20 years ago. Technology has finally caught up with costs and we are seeing a couple of different camera systems for reasonable prices.

Just remember, too much knowledge is not necessarily a good thing. Some of these less expensive tools have created massive amounts of bad information, mostly from public forums and social media. Low quality news and reviews are just as bad as fake news which is so pervasive these days.

I have one of those flex cams, but it will only fit down the barrel of a .50, to large for even .45. Watch the diameter if buying, and convert the mm so you know what you are getting. I use it inside Native American pottery to determine if it is hand coiled or greenware that has been slipped and painted. 0
