that picture you have in your sig line, pork and brains, I thought it was something you made up. Just got back from piggly wiggly and as I was walking down the isle I had to look twice saw it right there on the shelf, was pretty dusty though, must not be a real big seller............

I've had a can of that for at least 25 years from a market in Lynchburg, Va. And, Noooo, I'm not about to open it. It's on a shelf with a can of Billy Beer. 0 -
That can of hog brains goes way back. Almost sure same as my mother bought in the 50's at a place called Russels Garage (General store) on Rt 33 Mineral, Louisa County, Va. Mom mixed it with scrambled eggs. Not for me. George Russel was only person that carried it. George Russel was one of the smartest nicest men I ever knew. Huge farm 200+ black angus cattle. Could rebuild a JD Tractor or any internal combustion engine with blindfold on. Drove a hearse. Use to loan his little black Scottie to dad and me to hunt squirrels. George fed my Grandpa and family for a whole year when he was seriously injured in a sawmill accident. 0 -
I thought they misspelled "Pork and Beans". No wonder they tasted funny.
It was quite a shock after spending my adult life in other parts of the country then returning to Virginia after I retired. I remember trying them when I was a kid.
I went in the store that carries the Pork Brains looking for canned clams to make my own special Seafood Chowder. (I had fresh Halibut and fresh Salmon on hand).
If I can't find something, I've learned not about to ask because I'll get that "I guess we ain't got hit ifin you don't see it." from a teenager. But that did not stop my wife (who originally requested I make Seafood Chowder).
The pimply-face high school boy asked, "Whut ya want clams fer?"
"Chowder." she said, as I bit my lip and slinked away.
"Oh, we got clam chowder," the helpful youngster said, "Over in the soup section."
I later told my wife, "That boy will marry, raise kids then die right here on this mountain without ever experiencing the delights of real Seafood Chowder. It makes me want to cry."
Its got real food in it! Chunks of food! Its a meal! Even without crackers!

However, I was kidding about the Pork Brains earlier. I plan to die right here on Bustedknee Ridge without ever experiencing the delights of canned pork brains ever again.0 -
took a can to my sons new years party, after a few beverages right before midnight pulled out the can and waited to see how many brave young men there were, had two try them, said they tasted like veinna sausage, the third boy started gagging and almost didn't make it........
