Went shopping with my oldest and the grandbaby Black Friday

I'm not one to go "shopping"....but I do like to get a good deal. My middle child said she wanted some good knives for Christmas so I hit the Bed Bath and Beyond store on Black Friday to get a $300 set for $120. Of course I had to stop in the other big stores nearby to see what they had left from the crazed early morning shoppers and it appeared that they had not been completely overrun and had some good deals everywhere we stopped. One place had $9 yoga pants and $10 sweatshirts for the girls, another had some weighted blankets and a decent looking set of stainless cooking pots and pans, Sonicare electric toothbrushes for $19, Turvis cups for 30% off. It was worth getting out and checking what people had on sale. That was the first Black Friday event I participated in a VERY long time. I'm not big on the crowds and I really do NOT like when I show up and an item is sold out. At least they will order it for you and ship it direct these days, which is what happened with the knives, because they were sold out when we got there...but I still got the deal. So, it turned out the whole reason I went out ended up being a thing I bought on line.....the whole rest of the day wouldn't have happened if I had stayed home and done that though. I'm glad it isn't as hectic as it once was.

    Isn't taking a baby out on Black Friday some form of child abuse?? :D Or do you consider taking a girl child out on Black Friday just training for the future?? :lol:

    Dear Lady, shopping is an atavistic throwback to gathering, so it is a natural impulse for female persons. No male hunter person would be caught dead doing it. We're still troglodyte enough to know where we don't belong.

    Who knows if it ever happens again.....I think I was in high school the last time I went out for Black Friday deals.

    I thought of going to Bed Bath and Beyond since they advertised having a Charlie Brown Christmas Tree for $20 and a coupon of $10 if I spent over $30.

    Can one find "good knives" from Bed Bath and Beyond? Hard to sharpen Chinese stainless is their stock and trade I imagine. They just need to be "pretty" on the counter. Then again most folks just throw them in the dish washer so it really makes no difference.

    Since this was for my 24 year old I thought I'd get her a set that was better than the cheap garbage she currently owns, but nothing too over the top because she doesn't really do a lot of cooking and I don't think she would understand how to take care of a NICE set of knives. These are the two things I ordered.

    Imagine that, they sell German Henckels. I would've thought maybe Spanish but it is the injection molded handles. I'd worry about the blade snapping off at the handle.
