Firing pin... sights... 0 -
Great information! Thanks for posting.TRAP55 wrote:0 -
The Model B firing pin safety and the slight change to the ejector were implemented to reduce the chances of converting the semi auto carbine to selective fire. Without going into the details of the conversion, 90% of all pre-May 86 Uzi conversions are registered bolt guns and use the Model A as the host. Converting a Model B is possible, but much more involved. Despite the ban on registering new MGs, the Model A still carries a premium, which is primarily based on the ease of conversion. 0 -
Thanks. Very helpful. 0 -
Probably the most talked about difference between the two models is the sights. The Model A shipped with the sights originally designed for the UZI SMG. The Model B shipped with sights that were designed for the newer Mini UZI. ... The Model A has a small size bolt head and nut going through the rear sight...
There is also a "firing pin safety" on the model B that was not on the A...
Here are some visual cues...

A few years ago I finally got to shoot one in F/A mode. First surprise was how heavy it was for it's size, the second surprise was how accurate/controllable it was. If you ever get a chance to shoot one, don't make my mistake, bring more than one box of ammo to shoot. 8-) 0 -
We were out at Palm Bay gun range. Palm Bay police had just gotten the Glock 18 and were out their playing with it. Another shooter named Todd from Miami area had a Uzi SMG out there also.
Glock was awesome but only shipped with I think were 2-17 round mags. 2 second dumps.
Uzi very easy to keep on target.0 -
Full autos are interesting. I had the opportunity to shoot both a vintage "Tommy Gun" and a 9mm modern auto firearm. The Tommy was very mechanical in operation while the 9mm was like spitting out rounds and all of a sudden the clip was empty
