I've Got Ramps! (Thank you to AdamsQuailHunter!)

After AdamsQuailHunter so graciously sent me some ramps, I planted them, and let them go to "seed". They don't actually produce seed, but more of a "bulblet" type of thing.

I planted them, not knowing when they'd come up, and I noticed today they are about 12" tall and doing very well! They sat dormant in the heat of the summer, but sprang up with the recent rainfall we've had.

So, thanks again to AdamsQuailHunter for sending them earlier this year!

I'm going to figure out some sort of recipe to eat them in.......I've never had them.

EDIT: So, just did some more reading on them, and it takes THREE YEARS for them to mature enough to eat, from the bulblet stage! LOL!

Doesn't look like I'm having any ramps for a couple more years! :lol:

    Maybe if you put them in the green house you could speed that up? Arizona ramps, you could corner the market. If there is a market... :?

    I also received some of these : Planted them , they came up , quickly went to seed then died off ???

    Makes me wonder ???

    That is called bolting, it is the result of too high heat for the plant in question. We cannot plant cilantro without it bolting. Can only grow it indoors her in NM.
