Rodent problem- Mice- need advice/suggestions
I built a 32' X 36' building to park my RV in a few years ago. Never seen a trace of a mouse until last week. I was moving a grill and a fat mouse scurried from under it. I set 2 traps and put out a tray of the old school DCON pellets. The next day one trap was gone and the entire tray of pellets eaten or carried off. I know the old school DCON has been banned. I looked online and see the "new" formula DCON, a product called "Tomcat" and several others. Seems like all of these mouse poisons whether pellets or blocks have very little active ingredient (.005) in most cases. Thats 99.995 % inactive ingredients. Seems like a ripoff.
Just wanted to get some opinions on what you all use and recommend.

They build nests in nooks and crannies this time of year. Maybe eating grease, etc. on the grill. If you can, remove everything from your building except your camper. Make sure there is no food for them.
You can?t kill them all with poison.
My problem is squirrels and chipmunks. Everything I pick up in my building and shed is full of hickory nut hulls.0 -
For best results switch between two or three baits on a weekly scheduled. Less chance of the little bastards building up a resistance to the bait That what we did for 30 years of commercial poultry growing 0 -

I used Tomcat meal bail from TSC and it works well. I too believe in switching once in a while. It isnt cheap, but its like Oatmeal and it works. 0 -

I made one of the bucket traps some years ago and it works. I made it so the ramps hooked over the edge of the bucket and they were easily removable for when the bucket needed emptying. A couple of good things about it was it never needs resetting and the water keeps the smell down if you don't check it for a week. Bob0 -

I have been battling rats in my basement and carport for 23 years. A year ago, I bought a bunch of electronic rat repellers off of Amazon and the rats are gone! I have 5 of them in the basement, 2 in the crawl space, and 3 in the carport.
Some cost $45, and some cost $6. I spent $375, best money I ever spent.0 -
I do a combo of electronic and bait. The bait is mixed from time to time. The best one I have found is called "Havoc", haven't bought any for a while so it may be a banned rodent killer as well. I mixed it with the Rural King product. 0 -

This product is made to keep mice out of tractor cabs, combines and other farm equipment....it also works great to keep them out of a camper.
I have used it for over 5 years and NEVER had a mouse invade my camper. I get it at a farm/home store for about $11 a box of 4 packets.

I did not have a mouse problem until I got a cat. He would bring mice into the house and release them.
Once he brought in a chipmunk. I left the door open until the chipmunk ran out.
To get rid of the mice, I went to the feed store and asked. They said the small amount of mouse bait is weak for idiot protection.
The large barn containers were super strong and kills mice. They were right. The crap I bought at Wal-Mart sucked. So I got the barn variety.
I fed the dogs outside for a few days while the poison worked on the mice. Poof! They were gone!!0 -
The ferret is hell on wheels when it comes to rodents - mice - crickets - snakes inside the house or the garage and basement...
The cat is useless - only kills birds on occasion.
The hedgehog will kill insects and mice if the ferret was not so quick.
A few years ago I put out a few traditional mousetraps with peanut butter in a basement and that worked...
It's not a major issue for us more of a once in a great while nuisance.

We use Rodent Repellent and was recommended to us by some big time farmers that they use in their high dollar farm equipment 0
