This rural area in Tonopah, Nev., has the largest ZIP code in the lower 48 states. At 10,000 square miles, it's a little larger than the state of Maryland. The area experienced a boom in the early part of the 20th century after silver was discovered there. It sits about halfway between Las Vegas and Reno, Nev.

USPS should sell VANITY zip codes with yearly fees to maintain, the USPS could spend the money on new employees. :o

    Our mail lady has our zip code for her license number.
    When I use my debit card at the gas pumps, I don?t have to enter a PIN, but it asks for my zip code.
    What?s up with that?

    I picked up the mail for our American Legion post last week.

    As always, I go through the envelopes before I leave the Post Office. I don't throw the trash away there because I don't want to remind the carriers they spend a whole bunch of energy carrying trash. :lol:

    Anyway, I had to take one letter back to the counter. I mentioned to her the address was correct, but the city was wrong.

    Zip Codes - what does the Post Office use them for? Yes, the envelope had a Zip Code on it. It wasn't even close to the right one. :roll:
