Who's Bullets?

Found a box of bullets in the back room. No name on them or caliber on the box.
They are .404 Diameter, 250gr. JSP
Anyone know what caliber they are for. Looks like a handgun bullet.

  Could be about anyone made them. Perhaps for an old like 40 Express (.403), maybe the Herder's 401 Power Mag or 38-40 WCF?

  According to COW. Only two cartridges used .404 dia. bullets. 40-60 Winchester, is one of them.

  The .404 Jeffery actually uses a .422 Diameter bullet. That was actually my first guess when I found these.

  May be a few thousandths too small but the measurement might be a trifle off too. .401 Winchester Self Loader?
