Adhesive advise please
I have an old "Stanley" 3" belt sander that the rubber sleeve (1 1/2" dim. 3" long, 1/8" thick) on the drive drum pulled apart and needs to be replaced. Unable to find a replacement. I have some 1/8" sheet rubber. Do you think I could cut and glue this material on the steel drum? If so, what glue would be best? Thanks

but I would do it , I have had good luck with the gorilla clear glue ( not the super glue ) I would try it if it fails just make another nothing too loose but a little time if it fails0 -

Myself, I would use a contact type. And wipe the sheet rubber down with a little lacquer thinner. It activates something in the rubber and makes it sticky. Patching cheap hip waders taught me that. I'm surprised you can't find the part you need. 0 -
Another vote for the contact cement. I would rough up the back of the rubber with sandpaper and if possible, the roller. Use several hose clamps to hold in place for 24 hrs. 0 -

How about looking for some rubber hose the right diameter that you can slip on the roller and fasten with rubber cement? 0 -

I like the rubber hose idea. use a hair dryer to heat it up and stretch it on tight. 0 -

Yep, maybe some big electrical shrink tubing.0
