I hope the rest and immobilization will lessen the severity. When do you go back to the doctor?

You might have and if so say your prayers.

I had some form of tennis elbow last Apr that I thought was going to cripple me for life. I worked through it and am as good as new. Be sure to Ice it down if they said that was OK.

There was a kid that lived in our neighborhood years ago that was always hurting himself. He banged his head against the wall all the time. The doctors told his parents put a helmet on the kid.

Perhaps you should look into getting protective clothing and wear a helmet around the house? Maybe a couple of knee braces, some cleats to keep you from slipping on the grass and a hockey helmet with full mask. And if you could get one with an air hose connection you could wear it to bed also.:lol:

you now know what could happen, soften up that hard head and listen to the doctors, don't push it no matter how good it feels, the less you do the faster it will heal, ASK for help it you need it, good neighbors won't mind and it sound like you have a few. good luck, and be careful around buddy he may jump up on it/you or get in front of you and cause you to fall/trip. take it slow and easy, good luck

I am Verklempt. All choked up. The emotion is over whelming.

I have to stop now. Tears prohibit typing.

If it was not for the heavy cold rain outside, I'd fire up the chainsaw, and pick up where I left off.

    ...Damn! Way to go mom...
Maybe put a brace on the other leg and see if she will bring a dessert too!

I got two deli/bakery made lg. Cupcakes. One Blueberry, one Chocolate peanut butter.

Did not have to put the brace on the other leg for added sympathy. :D

Also forgot the two ham and swiss cheese sandwiches on multi grain bread. (Thanks Mom.)

I also have 6 Cherry turnovers and two unopened packages of chocolate marble cake, from before I hurt my knee. :D

    I may starve. Send help.

Glad you're feelin' better, Ken, but keep in mind that right now the drugs are responsible for that.
    Don't over-do it!

    Glad to hear it!

You should plan on keeping that immobilizer on for a couple weeks minimum. Your knee may not be permanently injured, but you have certainly badly strained and sprained it. Knees take time to heal, and they're the most vulnerable when injured. Towards the end of the two weeks, sit down and take the immobilizer off and gently try to bend your knee a few times a couple times per day. Keep it easy and don't re-injure it by forcing it, just go easy. Put the immobilizer on to do any walking or putting weight on it.

The knee is one of the most vulnerable joints in the body to injury because it's so critical to walking (that, and the back). It is incredibly easy to severely injure an already injured knee. It sounds like your knee is responding well. Take it slow. It drives you crazy to be so immobile, I know, but think of the alternative!

And remember, as others have noted, don't forget when on meds it's easy to over do it and hurt it again.

Good luck, and glad you're feeling better.

    I hear you Brother.

I am fully on board. I need to do this right. I am just glad, I am not in agony like the last couple days.

Sure hope you can avoid surgery. I don't remember the name of the James Bond movie but he had a coat or something simular, that when it opened up under an emergency situation (like falling down a big hill) it surrounded him in a big padded ball. He and the bond girl were saved again. Might need to look into something like that. :D. Especially the girl part.

So much better than the last couple days. I am ecstatic.

It seems the tighter I draw the full length (ankle to groin) brace, the better it feels. I slept without it last night. Slathered the knee with Aspercream and compression wrapped it. Very nice. Unwrapped the compression wrap about 2-3 am.

Hobbeling around, but that is to be expected. (Full leg immobilizer back on.)

Still ecstatic about where I am at, at this point.
