No brace when in bed. A pillow between the knees, or under, if on my back.

Thanks Todd. Obviously, I'd rather have it off in bed, if possible.

Last night, I pretty much felt I needed it.

Will leave it compression wrapped, with Aspercream on it.

    Thanks.

Ken go get one of those copper fit compression things. I got one for my elbow and it did wonders. I put this stuff called Sunny Crab on my elbow and the compression bandage all day and night. My tennis elbow went away. I got the tennis elbow in my right arm from running a chainsaw all day for about 2 weeks. It got so bad I could do anything with my right arm pain was intense.

Hope you get better. I figure surgery is the LAST option.

My wife had double knee replacement, both knees at the same time...............Tough chick. If you go that route you will need someone in your house taking care of you and PT every day. You have to have someone working the knee and moving it or a machine to do. We had both. I was in full Ranger Instructor mode..............She walks no problem now.

Good luck and I hope it works out for you.

Wear it only when you "need" it. Using a knee brace of any kind will prevent certain leg muscles to atrophy, and the older you are, the quicker that will happen, and the harder it is to get them back where they were. The quad muscles on top of the thigh atrophy, and cock the kneecap on an angle when the knee is bent. That tears up the slip and slide cartilage on the bottom of it, and the top of the femur. Then you're in for a whole new world of hurt.
Tendons and ligaments will tightened up without usage too. So when you can, hot pack it, spend 20mins bending/extending to your pain limits, then ice it.

Before i had my knees replaced i never wore a big brace at all. The doctors never suggested it. They did give me all kinds of different shots. None of them worked.

One of my knees would pop out of joint and i can not express how bad it hurt. Almost the worst pain i have experienced but when it would pop back in it was the best feeling i have ever experienced. LOL Its crazy to understand.

Something i did every night before surgery was sleep with a pillow between my legs. I used the thinnist pillow i had.

I did buy 2 copper fit braces myself and only wore them when i knew i would have to do a lot of walking. As soon as i home i would take them off.

I never knew anyone who had their knee athropy but i know a few who made there back worse.

Its a play by ear kind of situation.

    Good luck.

I am most hopeful Dav1965, that all I did was pop my knee out of joint, as opposed to tearing some ligaments/tendons. I discussed this with my DR.'s ("While being picked up and dragged out of the woods, my knee audibly popped, again, and relief was estatic.")

I am hopeful it was not my interior or anterior CL. (Or Meniscus.)

I gotta say, the tighter I draw this thing up, the better it feels. (Full length /ankle to groin brace.)

This is the Sunny Crab I was talking about. I get it from my SIL who is a Sports message Therapist here in Raleigh. She works on a lot of big name sports people, football, baseball and hockey players. She also is the message therapist and does all the taping for the NC State Cross Country team and their running sports teams.

    Its good stuff.
