Confused older gentleman, new to GB, as GOD as my witness we will survive this and prevail!
I have a local guy that has recently found GB. He loves it. He sips adult beverages and bids on things....every other week or so he comes to pick up something he has won. It started off slow and got to be small groups of things. Then, he started bringing me things to sell. It was a nice system for him.....sell what you don't want and pick out something you do want. Eventually he was bringing me one or two things that he had actually won. I would say "this looks familiar" and chuckle. Recently he won a couple things and decided he didn't want them.....but paid for them, so it was a simple relist with the consignor changing to be us selling it for him. I don't think he has figured out he can bid on other people's things yet. I don't know if I'm ready to toss transfers into this juggling act yet. Selling items, consignments, transfers, reselling prior won items.....we'll have to do some kind of graph to keep up with it all.

I like the guy and it bothers me that he might be losing money by paying for things that he doesn't want just because he got caught up in the moment. I go bonkers in TJ Maxx myself....its funny how much a person can find that they NEED when they go into a store to find socks or bath towels. 0 -

I take offence to being called " confused", I would like to think that I am mearly misguided in my firearm expences. 0 -
My brother in law?s best friend is kinda like that. At 76, he?s very sharp minded, but trades and buys guns a couple of times a a week. He doesn?t use GB, but there is a few traders that we?re tight with. He?s single and has a good income, and he just likes the ?action?. His son has expressed concern over some of his trades but he generally doesn?t get taken.
If he finds a good deal and doesn?t buy, he?ll pass the deal along to my brother in law or me.0 -
My father was one of the top dealers in the Southeast at one time. He had an amazing run as a firearm dealer. When he was still coming in the store to see us (his former store) he would do a trade from time to time with people he knew. I gave him a civil war rifle that I got in a collection I purchased that was worth around $2000. Giving him that rifle took every penny of profit out of my deal and I was going to struggle to get my money back out of what was left to sell.....but he's always been a HUGE Civil War buff so I wanted him to have it. Not long after that someone came in to trade a Marlin 44 rifle that they said they had recently bought off my dad. They didn't want the gun, but he was selling it for such a bargain they grabbed it up so they could trade it in on what they wanted. My heart sank a bit.....I had kind of suspected that daddy was still trying to dabble in trades, but I knew he had paid twice what he sold the gun for. I never asked what happened with the civil war rifle. I doubt he still has it. He got mad at everyone and moved two hours away, making it nearly impossible for us to check on him regularly. I'm sure its going to be dementia or worse when we do figure out what is going on with him. I'm lucky he never learned how to use a computer because I'm sure he couldn't keep up with what he was doing if he did. 0 -
