Ford Dealer keeps bugging me
There is a Ford dealer near me in NC that I took my wifes Edge in to get re-call work done. While it was in I asked them to fix a few things that I didn't want to do.
Bottomline they kept the car 3 days and didn't do anything I asked them to do except the re-call crap. Then they wanted to charge me for one of the things I asked them to do, which they didn't even try to fix.
So they keep calling me and emailing me for a survey on their performance. I am one of those people that if I don't have anything to nice to say I say nothing, especially about a business at least publicly(I will tell friends to steer clear).
So they called me again.........
I told the person I didn't want to do a survey
They keep pushing
They will not take no for an answer....................So I do the survey and I basically said their service sucks they failed to fix what I asked them to fix and then tried to charge me for it. I said they were pushy and I was lied to(which I was). I said I would never go there again and would not recommend them to anyone I know.....................
The Manager calls me
I told him you asked for it and there it is.
Now they want to fix everything for free....................to late I fixed it with parts I bought on RockAuto.
I hate going to a dealership..............
I hate working on new vehicles
And I hate pushy people.

I hear ya Sam, loud and clear!! I get harassed online to take surveys all the time. I tell them all to give me a year to make sure I am happy with their product! 0 -
Why do you answer your phone? I don't answer any calls that's not on my call list and sometimes I don't answer those either. My phone my convenience. My sister once ask what if we have emergency some night and you don't answer? I told her to call 911 cause I'm not a doctor plus I'm to far away to put out any fires. Leave a message and I'll call you in the morning...maybe. 0 -

It's a car dealer thing - and corporate trains them to act that way - requires it...
The local BMW dealership were makaila has bought her last two cars - were I bought my motorcycle now long gone - he exports certain used American brand cars to east Asia...
He has been nagging me to sell him my 2005 Lincoln LS sports coupe - the one with the weird little flat plane crank Euro design V8 engine...
Since it still has under 58,000 miles he thinks he could make a killing on it exporting it to Japan or China...
For whatever reason it's become a cult classic fan boy rice burner car magazine drift aficionado favorite in that market - which I don't understand.
It got worse after I put the cat back performance dual exhaust on OT and the K&N cold air induction ram air filter charger system amongst other things...
I bought it used dirt cheap several years ago and while it's okay the way I have it and with its low mileage I don't think it's a desirable muscle car or an icon.
Go figure.

Most of the time when you buy a new car, before you leave they tell you atleast three times that they have to have a perfect rating on the follow up survey, so please, please pretty please give us a perfect rating. The previous time I bought from this one dealer, i hammered them on the survey, because they took too long and then the salesman didn't even put gas in it before we left...sorry but every vehicle sold should leave with a full tank, I don't care if it's a used Fiesta off the budget lot or a $80K dually. So rightfully I torched them. Then i bought elsewhere, because of it. Well i ended up back there this go around and bought a new truck....they never called me for a survey. I've probably bought 1o vehicles from this dealer over the years, every time the survey...not this time..LOL... 0 -
Many years ago, after getting a new job in another town about 30 miles from home. I decided I needed a new vehicle to make the daily trip.
I went to the local dealer that our family had been using for years. I told them to find me a vehicle and gave them the specific information on the vehicle I was looking for. They did not have one on the lot, but tried to sell me a used vehicle instead (not the same type). I insisted on the one I wanted and asked them to get on the internet and find one. They did. I was standing right there. It was located about 60 miles away in Missouri. They told me it was probably gone by now and would not even make the phone call to see. Then they tried again to sell me the used vehicle on the lot. I left.
The first day I got to work at the new job. I went to the local dealer on my lunch break and asked them to find me the vehicle I wanted. They said they would call me at work when they found it. They called later that afternoon and told me they found one about 60 miles up the road. I told them to bring it down. When it got there, I told them to install a rear bumper and then drove it home.
I made sure that pickup was serviced as often as possible at the family dealership. (I spent plenty of money at the other dealer, too.) I enjoyed watching them service my pickup that had been purchased at the other dealership.
When it came time to trade off the pickup, I went to the family dealership. I told them I wanted to trade the pickup for a van just like my grandparents had purchased there. I thought he was going to hurt himself "jumping into action".
Shortly after that I moved up the road to the town the pickup originally came from, when I was transferred there.0 -
Sam, it sounds as if we are (were), using the same Ford dealership. I also live in NC (western), and had an F-150, and my wife had an Escape. Both purchased new at the dealership. Our experience with their service department left very much to be desired, and I expressed such with their managers. Their only concern seemed to be come back and see us when you need a new car. Well I now drive a 2019, Tacoma, and wife drives a 2019, Subaru Outback. Both purchased in Ashville. Money will spend anywhere. 0 -

Makaila has a BMW and a mini Cooper and a vintage dodge pick up with a Mitsubishi agricultural six cylinder diesel
McKenzie has a vintage Chevy S10 pick up and a vintage S10 blazer
There is a Honda and a Suzuki motorcycle in the garage / used to be a BMW two wheeler...
A 1970 crown imperial 2 door custom coupe is in the works.
I still consider myself a FORD Blue blood ride or die man myself - along with mercury and Lincoln and De temoso as acceptable...
But as you see we are diverse and embrace many brands.

After owning a few 7 series BMWs , they become very expensive to maintain after the warranty runs out, I avoid them. Tell me about your Lexus SUV (wifey is thinking about a mid sized SUV for her next vehicle)0 -
I bought my 2001 Lexus RX300 AWD SUV with 50,000 miles and my 2005 Lincoln LS 4-door V8 sport sedan with 50,000 miles at the same time from the same dealership both of course used 3 years ago...
The Lexus was the wife's car and the Lincoln the husbands - they had bought a brand new matched pair of Subaru SUV'S for their retirement (both doctors)
They kept the 1999 Mercedes Benz amg wagon with 48,000 miles as a spare vehicle (damn them)
I got a screaming deal and traded in my 2003 Ford ranger edge 2wd reg cab short bed 3.0 hi po V6 with 148,000 miles - paid less then $5,000.00 a piece for the vehicles and got good value on the trade - gave them approx. $6,000.00 in cash - half in one dollar bills in a plain brown grocery store bag - like a gangster...
They had them for 3 days and had just finished detailing them and putting new tires on both...
Some people think I am ass backwards or a ludite or anarchist for not buying a new car with all the new tech - but I think I did better than okay.
The Lincoln has the Euro style flat plane crank 3.9 liter V8 making stock 285 horse power - my performance exhaust and twin K&N forced cold air induction system and a few other minor items gives me around 320 horse from a relatively small car with rear wheel drive and a 5 speed...
The Lexus is bullet proof and has the timeless Toyota dual overhead can V6 that is now about 300 horse power...
For a 2001 it's loaded - LCD screen in dash - navigation maps - headlights level out depending on load and grade and turn radius - heated leather - four wheel drive - you name it it's got it.
Plenty of power - will do 120 mph with ease and smooth and quiet - great gas mileage - indestructible power plant - super quality control...
Sunroof - power everything - nice sized for 5 adults and two dogs in the back.
I am over exited about them but I got them cheap and low mileaged and dealer maintained by doctors...
A sporty car and a luxury SUV for cheap.
I know most people would not - but I highly recommend buying a low mileage used Lexus RX 300 or RX330 if you can - terrific used vehicle in most circumstances.
Both have way more power and performance than I need - enough to have fun if I want.

The Lexus SUVs are really nice, we were thinking about the middle sized Lexus the GS0 -
The power plants and transmissions of both vehicles are fascinating to me...
The Toyota engine has been around in some form since the 70's in trucks and SUV's and is one of the most durable long lasting quality engines ever made - it certainly deserves to be on everybody's top ten list...
The Lincoln engine and transmission and suspension to me are very European - the car is much more akin to BMW or Audi and Mercedes Benz than an American sedan or sports car...
I don't know where the engine came from and where it went - what other vehicles it was used in...
The performance numbers for an American 4 door sports sedan in 2005 are pretty mind blowing - and my modest enhancements easily put it in and around the 320 horse power range...
I am uncertain what it would do I'm the quarter mile but I imagine it's in the high 13 second range which again for a rather unremarkable Euro looking American 4 door from 2005 it's earth shattering - it's mustang cobra territory.
Why did this car in this variation just disappear - I know the six cylinders predominated production and had problems - but this car seems to have flown under everyone's radar and it's a true sleeper.
The 3.9 liter flat plane crank high output V8 puts out some impressive horse power but the torque numbers are not great - torque numbers are almost identical to horse power numbers.
And the 5 speed automatic transmission and the cars rear end are also European designs - not typical Ford Lincoln mercury fair - not the American norm.
I know it's not a BMW M5 or a Mercedes AMG and I know that it's not a super car or an elite vehicle but I do like it and it does perform well.
The Lexus RX300 AWD SUV is the right size - full size (not a compact and one is not cramped or shoehorned in) (not a suburban or expedition) and it sits high...
I don't usually go for all the luxury whistles and bells but it's all very nice and very well put together and very well executed.
Lexus has stayed true to the vehicles origins and design concept - basically a Toyota truck engine and transmission - a Toyota truck AWD / 4WD system wrapped in wood and leather...
They have embraced Cadillac luxury while maintaining the Toyota truck underpinnings and performance capabilities.
It's a great bad weather warrior - will get you where you need to go in rain or snow or storms - not an off-road build but it will go through or get you out of some bad scenarios and conditions...
It's not just a car or minivan bodied to look like a real truck or SUV - they started with a tried and true truck and kept that foundation while dressing it up.
I would like to see more bright solid primary colors on the exterior and interior.
The new models have a bit of a prominent stand out nose / front end.
It is easy to park in spaces and garages and retail lots - people identify it but it does not attract undo attention...
I recommend getting all the weather tech goodies like floor mats and cargo area mat and such.
Rain X or Bosch rain X style heavy duty wiper blades all around...
I am uncertain about it's towing capabilities (mine or a new one)
The girls and my mother and aunts love the damn thing.
They hold their value and last forever if properly maintained.
Makaila prefers her BMW SUV over my Lexus - however Mackenzie really likes to borrow the Lincoln for long drives...
The BMW and Mercedes Benz 2001 equivalents to my Lexus RX300 both had some serious issues and long term problems - and while I like both vehicles I think the Lexus was a better investment overall.
And again it's no dodge viper or hellcat but for me a medium sized sport sedan with 320 horsepower and a quarter mile in the high 13's is fun and enough...
The Lexus also has more than enough power - delivered quietly and smoothly it can sneak up on you.
The odd juxtaposition of low mileage and vintage production dates worked out well for me.

I just bought another truck which required visiting 4 different dealers to make the best choice for me.
The calls and emails have been relentless from the dealers I didn?t buy from.
I have in-turn invoked some of their own medicine and in response signed them up to daily emails and text messages from:

Anywhere online Im asked for an email or phone number- no problem- let me just dig out the last car dealer?s contact info...0 -
Or when filling out a survey or continuous contact contract enter in the local other brand competing dealerships phone number and email and fax data...
So if it's a Ford dealership provide the local Chevy dealerships data...
Or go the blues brothers route and use Wrigley field or your local stadium or arena data...
Sign them up for deviant porn spam.
They don't want to or care about providing you with better customer service or improving hour experience or investigating your feedback and improving how they do business...
They are trying to keep corporate happy and make more money.

I have my service done at the dealer (though not the one I bought it from which is 140 miles west). They work as cheaply and well as my previous mechanic and don't leave grease smudges behind. The started calling wanting to buy my truck when it had 5,000 miles. I told them not to call until 15 years or 250,000 miles. They have not called back. I do get a lot of junk mail with no name but I recognize the address and it goes straight from my PO box to recycle. 0 -
Contractor buddy of mine went to buy a dirt bike for his son. Went one dealer who wanted to run a credit check on him. They did and it came back pretty crappy. They wouldn't even talk to him after they ran his credit.
So he went up the street, bought the same exact motorcycle, put it in the back of his pickup, and drove back to the 1st dealer to show it to them. Cussed them out and said - Look what I bought with CASH you stupid ___'ers!0 -
Dealers are hurting and profits are down because common people have blown their money already on 7 years loans. Now they are looking for anyway
to stay afloat and the service dept is the only other revenue stream!
