Anyone Know Where I Can Find A Stash of.......

Remington "Buckhammer" slugs (12ga)?

They have been discontinued for a few years now, and I can't seem to find any leftovers hiding out on GunBroker or elsewhere. My H&R Ultra Slug Hunter LOVES the things (i.e. touching "clover leaf" groups at 100 yds), and I hate to start over. Besides, they are devastating on deer.

Any ideas????

    I use the same round in my 870 with rifled barrel,with same results. Up against the same thing,they are hard to find. A lot of guys don't understand/believe you can have two slug guns set up identical and each barrel likes a different round.

    I tried the Hornady SST -was horrible. No two shots even close to each other.
    Want to try the Remington copper but have not yet.

    Buckhammer had something like 1535 Muzzle velocity on the ounce and a quarter slug. These are a little more potent and shoot well out of my gun.

    you can buy a variety of slugs, you may try reloading your own......

    I've had good results out of the H&R's with Remington copper solids. I think Remington quit making them also but there are still 12ga 2 2/4" available for about $1.50 per round. I ordered 200 rounds just a couple of weeks ago. I'm sure there are other slugs that will work but I know these will and $1.50/round is a pretty decent price for premium sabot rounds.

    I always had good results with Brenneke Slugs. We used them for breaching before Breaching rounds where invented.

    I knew what model you are talking about. We have a couple of 12ga and several 20ga models in the family. We have been shooting the copper solids in all of them, except one 3 1/2" hasting's model. That's why I bought the slugs I did. Easier to stock up than to re-do all of them. I just wish I had stocked up on the 20ga before they quit making them, I only have about 30 rounds of that. When I bought the hasting's 3 1/2" gun I bought three cases of ammo as I thought they may quit making it, and sure enough they did as hastings went out of business.

    This one is a 20ga, but even at that I need to replace the scope to one with longer eye relief. I have a Bushnell 3200 on it and it's just a manner of time until I shoot from an awkward position and pay the price if I don't swap it out. But it's set up well, it's accurate and it has range.

    Yep, the eye relief issue was a concern of mine too way back when I got it. I ended up going with a Bushnell Banner 3-9x40 that has 6-inch eye relief. It's a perfect set-up, and the scope has been rock solid for over 15 years now.
