Went to my last gun show in California.

I went to the Cow Palace yesterday for the final show there (you know the state shutting down gun shows). There I found a new in package "Colt" 10/20 AR magazine in what looks like Stainless. Dude wanted $10 because it was a straggler and I can always use a straight magazine for my .458 Socom. Then went and found a A2 buffer tube for $20 and bought a "Bamboo" neck pillow. I got the pillow since every now and again I fall asleep in the Lazy Boy and wake up with a kink in my neck. $25 should solve that.

With the Cow Palace gun show gone all the other shows are kind a back tracking with picking up the third in Mountain View (as in to East Bay or Paso Robles). I ain't gonna drive to Fresno unless I'm also picking up a trunk full of meth to make it worth while. And with Reno shows being watched by snitches to CHP/cops on California side. I suppose if I stay with in what is legal they got nothing on me but that is a drive without staying for the whole weekend. Oh well at least I can still make online purchases on gun bits.

So extra souvenir from the gun show. I found my car where some peg-boy scratched both my rear passenger side doors (hidden meaning of scratching my back door?). It wasn't a key since the scratches were wider and the rump ranger put muscle behind the effort. The thing is my passenger side front fender, front door and the rear fender has body damage from trading paint couple years back but up until then the rear passenger side door was pristine. Then there is the rear drivers side door had a indentation from way back so the scratch is no big deal. I guess I get to perpetuate/perpetrate being an ass to keep the cycle of random giving going. I guess I'll open the doors with a little more force than necessary or park with the passenger side close to my side of the white line to make it difficult for them to get in to their ride. Or actually use my push bumper to nudge some car forward.

    As someone who lived in Fresno and been to both the Fresno gun show and the Cow Palace I can honestly say I got way better deals in Fresno than I ever did in SF. I?m surprised ya would be afraid of a lil meth considering how San Francisco is now lol.

    Yosh, John Arabia has started promoting local gunshows that draws all the refugees that are fed up with the other promoters. Entrance fee is $10, 8ft table is $100, and parking is usually free,...the way shows use to be. You won't be paying Cow Palace/SF sales tax on top of the state sales tax either. The last couple of shows here in Dixon, have had more vendors than the "Big" Reno Show had this wkend.     1966 was when I attended my first gun show in Houston. Held at the almost "new" Astrodome and had over 2000 tables.

    Many had full auto's for sale, distinctly remember a Thompson submachine gun that a dealer had purchased/traded from the Chicago Police Department. Black case that held the Thompson, clips, drum magazine oiler etc. Think they were asking over $3,000 dollars ?

    Playing also in 1966 was this group, first time in Houston but at the Coliseum.

    I haven't been in California since maybe the late'80's.

    Apparently I had been lead wrong as thought by now, the only firearms in California were illegal one's or had by the gestapo.

    I was a regular vendor at the Big Reno Show for more than a decade, starting when it was still the Shotgun News show. It's also been more than a decade now that I stopped going. Even then, the rumors about plainclothes BATF agents and California snitches were rampant. None of it would have been needed if it weren't for California anti-gun laws creating what amounted to a black market for guns. I didn't sell guns, and I'm from Utah, which made me a kind of neutral observer. With no dog in the hunt, it was still obvious what was going on. There were a lot of cash only, no papers sales - many of them private, non-dealer sales. Dubiously legal, but commonplace nonetheless.

    Yosh, if you are going to have to drive, come join us in Tulsa in April. How you get it all home is up to you, but the company is good and so is the food. 4000+- tables.

    ruger41 - After the parking lot vandalism and thinking of other venues Fresno is still drive (even though if they handed out meth with parking).

    TRAP55 - Dixon, huh? I see it's almost to Sac. Maybe we'll try but it's a drive.

    Warbirds - Yes we Californians are super safe now. We'll be just like Chicago soon.

    He Dog - If a drive to sac is a drive Tulsa might as well be to the moon :lol:. I reckon the sellers will get a kick of me me asking for 10 round AR magazines.

    Yosh, you sound like my BIL in Ohio who packs a picnic lunch to go 125 miles and asks us to buy him dog treats at Trader Joes because his TJs is an hour away and ours is only 20 minutes, never mind the packing and trip to the post office.

    And the scenery gets better once you are out of Cali. You will even see non-human wildlife. :lol:

    I can't remember the last time I drove 125 miles (one way). Maybe 10 years ago when I drove to Disneyland (as a good host). Strange Trader Joe doesn't do mail order. maybe Amazon has those dog treats?

    l used to shoot ground squirrels in 0regon during the Spring... Guy l stayed with was in Cali, but we only shot in 0regon. He's out of business now because of harassment l tink from Cali law guys.. They weren't getting license fees and don't like ''foreign out of state'' guns.. A shame too. We used to help the farmers and the wildlife. Golden Eagles used to come and enjoy the feast of fresh GS. Those things are SOOO big too. Esp @ 30-40yds landing nearby.. l learned real QUICK not to shoot the close ones ;) Kasey found my little ''Squirrel'' gun a new home last year. l still miss that little 17HMR Ruger77.. But I don't miss kali
